NBA DRAFT 2012 ReCap

NBA Draft first round results

1. New Orleans Anthony Davis (PF) Kentucky

The face of the franchise for many years to come. Big superstar potential. Has to work a lot on his offensive game, but his D is phenomenal already. Almost unfair combination of athleticism, length and skills. Great attitude too.

2. Charlotte Michael Kidd-Gilchrist (SF) Kentucky

Another Kentucky guy at No. 2. Not likely to become a go-to guy for any team, but could be a great second option down the road. Fantastic competitor. Jump shot looks real bad, but he has a terrific motor and great defensive skills already.

3. Washington Bradley Beal (SG) Florida

Wizards have an exciting youg backcourt with John Wall and Bradley Beal now. Looked terrific in the workout circuit. Well-rounded offensive player that puts effort on the defensive end too. Not an elite athlete.

4. Cleveland Dion Waiters (SG) Syracuse

Strong offensive player. Looks very good creating his own shot. A little undersized for the shooting guard position. May be a reach for the Cavaliers at No. 4.

5. Sacramento Thomas Robinson (PF) Kansas

Has great talent and work ethic. Plays bigger than his size and can score in a variety of ways. Not as much upside as other lottery picks.

6. Portland Damian Lillard (PG) Weber St

Quite an athlete with a nice jump shot. The best point guard in the draft, but not an awesome playmaker yet. May have a tough rookie year.

7. Golden State Harrison Barnes (SF) UNC

Beautiful jump shot and good size for the small forward position. The Warriors will really be scary from beyond the arc with him, Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson.

8. Toronto Terrence Ross (SG) Washington

Nice combination of athleticism and shooting skills. Needs to develop an efficient mid-range game.

9. Detroit Andre Drummond (C) UConn

Consistently called a boom-or-bust pick. Has all the tools to be a star in the NBA, but may not want it enough to actually become one.

10. New Orleans Austin Rivers (SG) Duke

Great one-on-one skills, but must learn to play within a team concept. Has a me-first attitude. Very confident.
